Correspondence for study by task force 2008

This series comprises correspondence responding to the draft social statement on human sexuality received by the Task Force for ELCA Studies on Sexuality and compiled for study by the task force. It is from 2008, though there is one folder that is undated. The correspondence is divided into two categories: the first category comprises letters and statements focusing on the same-gender portion of the draft social statement and the second type comprises comments on the entire draft document. Each category includes responses from clergy and lay persons. The task force divided into three groups that each studied one batch of each category of letters. Task force members were sent these two batches each month for October, November, and December 2008, but the correspondence itself is from throughout 2008. In addition to this material, there is one folder of material sent to the task force for their reading that included news releases pertaining to the draft social statement on human sexuality, one folder that includes reports from synod hearings, and also an open letter from the organization Lutheran Coalition for Reform (Lutheran CORE).
